About Helsinki

Helsinki is the capital and largest city of Finland. Getting to Helsinki is easy. Finnair and other airlines fly straight to Helsinki from numerous cities in North America, Asia, and Europe.

Alternatively you can take a train from Moscow or Saint Petersburg or take a boat from Tallinn or Stockholm.

And how to get around? See the HSL site to find more information about public transportation in Helsinki (1 – 7 day tickets recommended).

Hotels

We don't have any specific hotel to recommend (getting a significant discount from a hotel is harder than drawing blood from a stone).

Your best bet is to search for hotels near Finlandia Hall on Hotels.com or check out Omena Hotels, at the time of writing they had rooms available for around 60€ per night.

Organizers

Frozen Rails is put together by Kisko Labs, Finland's most experienced Ruby on Rails company.

Kisko Labs makes people happy by solving their problems with digital services. You should kickstart your web product or service with us. We'll complete it in five weeks.

Frozen Rails last year

This might sound like bragging, but last year's Frozen Rails was a great success. We had about half of the core team present (either as speakers or as attendees) and the feedback we got was almost universally positive.

We were graced with great speakers such as Yehuda Katz, Carl Lerche, José Valim, Chris Wanstrath and many more.

We like to think of Frozen Rails as one of the premier tech conferences in Europe or indeed anywhere in the world, and that's the standard we're aiming for this year too.

Why Frozen Rails?

With so many other Ruby and Rails conferences and RubyConf just around the block, why should you choose Frozen Rails?

  • Frozen Rails offers great value for money and is one of the more affordable conferences around.
  • We care as much about the quality of our audience as we do about the quality of our speakers, which is why we offer deals such as discounts for Rails contributors.
  • Frozen Rails will be held right in the centre of Helsinki, which means that you'll see more than just an airport and conference centre.
